Founded in 1840, the year of Queen Victoria’s marriage to Prince Albert and run by successive sons of the same family ever since, Joseph Marples Ltd celebrate 180 continuous years of Sheffield toolmaking. The selection of Rosewood / Walnut Tools are based on designs of the tools last made over 70 years ago, which carried the ‘TRIAL 1’ brand, or Corporate Mark.
The company may only be 180 years old, but by the time it was formed the family had already been making joiners tools for nearly 100 years, spanning almost the entire Georgian, Regency, Victorian, Edwardian and now Elizabethan eras.
This boxed Set is the perfect gift for any Tool Lover. The Joseph Marples Trial 1 Box set contains:-
- T09 230mm (9") Try Square, Double Brass Faced
- T14 Screw Slide Mortise + Marking Gauge
- T15 250mm (10") Mitre Square, Double Brass Faced
- T20 230mm (9") Sliding Bevel
- 25 Marking Knife
The squares have 1/8th inch thick machined brass on both the inside and outside faces, thus ensuring accuracy on the inside and outside edges. They have a blued spring steel blade, secured to the stock with brass diamond washers and steel rivets. The accuracy of the try squares is well within that required by BS3322.
The Screwslide mortise and Marking gauge has a full 1/8th inch thick brass face. The stock is locked on to the stem by brass knurled thumbscrew and protective pressure pad. The locking screw is set within a traditional brass protective shield. A screw slide gives fine and precise adjustment of the mortise pins and on the back of the stem is a single marking gauge pin.
Made from Walnut or Rosewood. All gauges come with a solid brass knurled thumbscrew. This tool is made in Sheffield, using only the finest materials and craftsmanship.Additional Information
