Meet John from JAD Creations

Perth based woodturner John Dawson, better known as JAD Creations, recently purchased a WOODFAST WL3040A 3HP Heavy Duty Wood lathe.

We dropped round for a chat to get John’s thoughts on his brand new lathe..

John, why did you buy a WOODFAST Lathe?

WOODFAST is Australia’s second oldest woodworking brand, and even though things have changed a little, the product is still distributed by an Australian company. I like the idea of supporting local business. And besides that, all the reviews for WOODFAST are exceptional!

How would you rate the performance of your WOODFAST lathe?

I have owned a few lathes, but now that I am doing more and more turning, I needed a lathe that really performs. I love the power and build quality of the WOODFAST lathe, I reckon it's the lathe that will really help me develop my work for the long term.

What's your favourite thing about your WOODFAST lathe?

I love many features on the lathe, but the standout is the sliding bed. This feature allows me to easily increase the distance between centres with the flip of a switch without the need for any heavy lifting or having to tighten any bolts.

What don’t you like about your WOODFAST lathe? 

I wish there was shelves under the lathe included.

Would you recommend WOODFAST to other woodturners?

Yes. I absolutely recommend the WL3040A lathe to any amateur or professional wood turner. This lathe is heavy, powerful and versatile. Everything you need to get serious about woodturning.
