Credit Card Surcharge Policy

At Beyond Tools, we aim to keep our pricing competitive, fair, and transparent. To achieve this, a credit card surcharge applies only in specific circumstances where transaction costs are significantly higher.

This policy explains when a surcharge applies, what is considered a machinery purchase, and which payment methods are surcharge-free.

American Express (AMEX)

A 3% surcharge applies to all American Express (AMEX) payments, including:

In-store purchases
Machinery purchases
Account and invoice payments

This surcharge reflects the higher processing fees charged by AMEX.

Visa & Mastercard Credit Cards

A 1% surcharge applies only in the following cases:

1. Account Customer Payments

Trade or Business Account payments
Invoice or account balance payments made via credit card

2. Machinery Purchases (Any Customer Type)

A surcharge applies when large workshop or industrial equipment is paid for using a Visa or Mastercard credit card.

What Is Considered a Machinery Purchase?

A machinery purchase refers to large workshop or industrial equipment that typically requires palletised freight, forklift handling, or pre-delivery checks.

Examples include (but are not limited to):

Panel saws
CNC routers and CNC lasers
Sliding table saws
Spindle moulders
Thicknessers and jointers (floor-standing)
Combination machines
Drum sanders and wide belt sanders
Large floor-standing bandsaws
Metal lathes and milling machines
Industrial dust extraction systems (2HP and above)
Large air compressors and industrial equipment

Any machine that:

Ships on a pallet
Requires forklift unloading
Requires pre-delivery inspection
Is sold via quotation
Is industrial-grade or 3-phase

is considered a machinery purchase.

**What Is Not Considered Machinery?**

The following items do not attract a Visa/Mastercard surcharge:

Benchtop machinery of any type
Benchtop drill presses
Small and medium floor-standing drill presses
Hand-held power tools
Workshop tools, accessories, blades, abrasives, and consumables
Items that can be shipped via standard courier or Australia Post

(AMEX transactions still incur a 3% surcharge.)

Surcharge-Free Payment Methods

No surcharge applies when paying via:

EFTPOS (Savings or Cheque – tap or PIN)
Direct Bank Transfer (EFT)
Cash (in-store only)

Refunds

Credit card surcharges are non-refundable, as they represent processing costs charged by financial institutions at the time of the original transaction.
Refunds are issued on the product purchase amount only.
